Ancient Origins:
The Night Elves, also known as the Kaldorei, are an ancient and reclusive race native to the continent of Kalimdor. They were originally night elves who settled near the Well of Eternity, a magical lake that granted incredible power. Under the leadership of Queen Azshara, they built the magnificent city of Zin-Azshari and formed the powerful civilization of the Kaldorei Empire.
The War of the Ancients:
During the War of the Ancients, Azshara and her Highborne followers sought to bring the dark Titan Sargeras into Azeroth by using the Well of Eternity. However, the night elves, led by figures like Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind, and Illidan Stormrage, rebelled against Azshara's plan. With the help of other races, including the ancient Dragonflights and the demigod Cenarius, they fought against Azshara's forces and ultimately thwarted the Burning Legion's invasion.
Sundering and Druidism:
In the climax of the war, the Well of Eternity was destroyed, causing a cataclysmic event known as the Sundering, which shattered the continents and plunged the world into chaos. Amidst this chaos, Malfurion Stormrage became the first Druid, learning from the demigod Cenarius and tapping into the power of nature to restore balance to the world. The night elves, devastated by the loss of their beloved Well, embraced a new way of life, living in harmony with nature and becoming guardians of the forests.
Long Sleep and Reawakening:
Following the Sundering, the night elves entered an era of relative isolation, known as the Long Vigil. They withdrew into the forests of Kalimdor and largely avoided contact with the outside world. It wasn't until the arrival of the Burning Legion once again, during the events of Warcraft III, that the night elves emerged from their seclusion to join the fight against the demonic forces.
Modern Era:
In World of Warcraft, the night elves have become one of the key factions in the ongoing conflict between the Alliance and the Horde. They are a proud and noble race, fiercely protective of their forests and homeland. They are known for their mastery of battle, druidic powers, and skilled combat prowess. With their capital city of Darnassus situated in Teldrassil, the Night Elves take a prominent defensive role in protecting Kalimdor, particularly the forests of Ashenvale and Darkshore. They frequently clash with various threats, including the Horde, demonic incursions, and other hostile forces.
